1.Death and Funerals
a.I have a host family in America. if my host family member died...
I am really sorry to hear that. I don't know what should I say for you, but only I can say to you is I had really good memories with you. I remember the time when we went to deer hunt. That was my first time to ride camping car and walk around the forest to hunt deer. You two tell me the new games, and treat me like your real daughter. I'm very pleased about that. 10 months, I was too childish and continually pester at you, so you would get mad but you didn't yell me. You just tell me what should I do and what I did wrong. Just before I went back to Japan, you took me gold beach. There were very beautiful and I cannot forget walking the beach in sunset. We stayed up late at the night and heard surf. At home, you always made jokes and people's smile. I said I'll take shower, you said You better use water. Christmas tree was amazing. We got tree from forest and bring it back to home and decorated. There are so many memories. we made jack-o-lantern, pop-corn, cherry pie, lasagna, steak, and so on. I wished I have stayed more. I hope the spirit goes to heaven.
b. Have you ever been to a foreign funeral?-No, I haven't.
2. The language of Clothes
a.I think Japanese like fashion, and following the trend is very popular and lots of people want to be more cute and fashionable in their clothes. Every year designer give us this years collection and this become that year's trend. So, Japanese are designer label crazy more than the other countries.
There is one proverb what parents tell their children when they were young. We need to think about the clothes for the time, place, and occasion. we can not wear jeans and t-shirts for work. It looks very rude, work is not play. so what you wear is very important.
b. “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.”
I think that means do not decide in one sight. Often we see the person's look and quickly decide what kind of person, and make decision like or dislike. But people are not so easy to understand. We need to talk and have communication lots, then know what the person is. So, I think this words mean do not judge the person in one sight.

Your letter for your hostfamily is so nice! I think it's good to tell specific memories with the person who died.
I also think it's important to wear propery at each place and accasion.
I have heard that in Japan there is a specific clothing for every occasion. I think in Hawaii, dress code is not so strict...
''do not decide in one sight''is nice expression!!
It's interesting!
Certainly, Japanese people prefer trend. But I think most people from other countries also prefer trend to old-fashioned things.
Good comments and an interesting story about deer hunting.
